Joseph Garcia’s case is a “Law of Parties” case, meaning that he was convicted of being involved in ( a robbery leading to) a murder rather than being convicted of having committed the murder. There has been much debate on these cases in recent years, especially in the cases of Jeff Wood and Kenneth Foster. There will likely be another attempt to end this law during the upcoming legislative session.
