Fight Executions: Save Ruben

The state of Texas and Cameron County are once again working to commit a state sponsored murder of Ruben Gutierrez on June 16th, 2020. According to court records, there has never been any biological evidence presented which showed that Ruben Gutierrez was present when the victim was killed. For 20 years the state has refused to test the available DNA evidence which could exclude him. Mr. Gutierrez has also argued that his statements, which implicated him in the robbery plot, were coerced by the Cameron County authorities. We ask you not only to take action to demand a stay of execution and a fair look at the evidence of the case, but to tell the Governor that Texas should leave executions in the past and re-invest those large funds, which they use to fight against testing DNA and hearing other evidence, into measures which actually support safety and justice for Texans.
